Stretto Supports Miyoshi America In One Of The Fastest Prepackaged Mass Tort Bankruptcies On Record

July 20, 2026

IRVINE, Calif., July 20, 2026 – Miyoshi America, a global leader in the development and manufacture of surface-treated pigments and mineral substrates for the cosmetics industry, retained Stretto as the claims, noticing and solicitation agent to facilitate the claims administration and balloting infrastructure for its recent prepackaged mass tort bankruptcy case. With Stretto’s support, Miyoshi delivered a confirmed plan of reorganization in six weeks with more than 99% claimant support. Miyoshi successfully emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy following one of the fastest court-confirmed reorganizations of its kind. Filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas in late April 2026, the case was also one of the first prepackaged mass tort bankruptcies in the district.

Miyoshi’s restructuring counsel, Mayer Brown, worked with Stretto and other advisors to coordinate with claimants’ counsel to design a solicitation process that was rigorous and transparent enough to withstand Court scrutiny, while still moving quickly enough to preserve the strategic advantages of the pre-negotiated plan. Drawing on its complex claims administration expertise, Stretto implemented a master ballot process that allowed law firms representing individual claimants to vote on their clients’ behalf while ensuring that claimants had properly authorized their attorneys’ votes.

As the case involved HIPAA-protected health information, Stretto developed a secure, encrypted portal enabling plaintiffs’ counsel to submit ballots and supporting documentation, along with a custom chain-of-custody system to verify every master ballot submitted.

At the case’s confirmation, the Court noted the “incredible amount of people” who backed the proposal and recognized that “voting was done the right way,” a testament to the clarity and completeness of Stretto’s noticing and balloting work. There were no disputes over vote tabulation or claimant documentation, which was a result consistent with the case’s broader track record.
