New Name. Expanded Expertise.
Originally founded over 30 years ago, the company has a long history in the consumer bankruptcy and corporate restructuring industry. Building on a rich banking legacy, Bankruptcy Management Solutions/BMS (now Stretto) expanded its financial institution network and grew its internal team to include more professionals with broader bankruptcy and fiduciary expertise. By introducing an effective combination of high-level client service, best-in-class technology, and customized processes, Stretto rapidly grew its consumer bankruptcy business and became the market share leader for Chapter 7 Trustees – a position it has held since the company’s inception and continues to hold today.
Along with building our consumer bankruptcy business, Stretto pursued corporate restructuring opportunities. We offered legal and turnaround professionals the same successful formula of above-and-beyond client service, proprietary software and tailored workflows so advisors could focus on the more substantive aspects of their Chapter 11 cases with minimal impact on their business operations. The result – Stretto supported over 500 corporate restructuring engagements by 2015 while its reputation as a value-add service partner steadily grew. In 2017, Eric Kurtzman and Jonathan Carson, along with Stone Point Capital, identified an opportunity to lead the company through its next growth cycle.
As entrepreneurs in the bankruptcy-technology industry, Kurtzman and Carson teamed up with the private equity visionaries to create a road map for the company’s expansion. Staying one step ahead of the industry’s trajectory, Stretto has recruited other bankruptcy and financial services veterans to join its team which has increased 100% over the last year. With offices in California and New York, the company’s expansion is maintaining a steady pace. Stretto’s name may have changed, but our commitment to our clients and the industry remains the same and we are well-positioned for continued expansion and success.
