Irvine, CA, September 5, 2017 – Bankruptcy Management Solutions, Inc. (“BMS” or the “Company”), a case-administration software and depository-services company, announced today that Eric Kurtzman and Jonathan Carson have joined BMS to serve as Co-CEOs and lead the company into its next phase of growth and expansion. As part of Kurtzman and Carson’s arrival, Steve Moore will transition from Chief Executive Officer to Chairman of the Board, where he will remain actively involved with the Company.
“Eric and Jonathan have been visionaries in the bankruptcy community since they launched KCC in 2002 with an innovative business model that disrupted the claims agent industry,” said Steve Moore. “KCC quickly became the market share leader and gold standard in corporate bankruptcy administration. Eric and Jonathan understand bankruptcy technology and services, and this is a perfect marriage of a market-leading bankruptcy-technology platform and two seasoned executives with an entrepreneurial mindset and first-hand experience growing a bankruptcy services business.”
Kurtzman and Carson’s arrival follows the March 2017 acquisition of BMS by funds managed by Stone Point Capital LLC (“Stone Point”). As part of the acquisition, Stone Point identified Kurtzman and Carson as ideal partners to enhance and expand upon the Company’s market position as the best-in-class provider within the case administration and trustee services sector.
Prior to founding KCC, Kurtzman and Carson were corporate restructuring attorneys—Kurtzman with Pachulski Stang in the firm’s Los Angeles office, and Carson with Kirkland & Ellis in the firm’s Chicago office. The two bring more than 40 years of combined experience to their new role—time spent representing various parties in both Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases, as well as clerking for the Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Central District of California (Los Angeles).
“We’re certainly not newcomers to the bankruptcy industry, as it’s a space we’ve each grown to love over the last 20 years,” said Eric Kurtzman. “BMS is a company we’ve been very familiar with for the last dozen years, and we admire what Steve Moore and the entire BMS team have accomplished. Jonathan and I believe that the Company presents another opportunity to bring increased efficiency, process improvement and cost reduction to a segment of the bankruptcy arena.”
Jonathan Carson added: “BMS is a market leader in an industry that is ripe for innovation. Stone Point’s commitment to growing the platform resonates with Eric’s and my belief in BMS’s ability to achieve beyond its current potential. We anticipate a seamless transition for our clients, and we are excited to return to the bankruptcy community in a continued effort to find new ways to ease administrative burdens imposed on professionals and their teams.”
